met gala: teen queens

So I know not all these lovely ladies are teens per se, but they are very, very young. And adored by teen girls (and boys) everywhere-- including this not-so-teenaged girl herself. What they lack in years, the young Hollywood celeb set make up for in style gumption, as exhibited at the Met's Costume Institute Gala last night. Enjoy!
I wish more high school kids dressed like this for Prom-- Dakota Fanning
is a breath of fresh spring air in a tulle dress with floral appliques.

I like that Glee star Dianna Agron doesn't bank on her angelic good looks
but opts for riskier styles. This simple glamazon style with gold cuff and
severe hair suits her-- inner warrior and all.

Gossip Girl's Blake Lively is never shy about flaunting her curves,
and this trompe l'oeil Chanel getup is no exception.

Emma Stone of Easy A gets an A in my books with this retro-looking
rose print dress paired with a hot pink lip and messy updo.

Kristen Stewart in Proenza Schouler is really coming into her fashion own.
No more gawky girl, she's wearing cool and cutting-edge looks that
suit her vibe perfectly.

Always the diva, Glee's chanteuse Lea Michele wears a classic red show-stopper.
In all honesty I'm a bit underwhelmed by this safe strapless bet, but she looks good.

Mia Wasikowska of Alice in Wonderland looks sweet and Gothic
at the same time. The color's a bit harsh for her and the shoes must go.

Perhaps my favorite teen queen du jour, star of Scream 4 and niece of Julia,
Emma Roberts is a minimalist's dream in this cream asymmetrical dress.

Twilight's Ashley Greene in a frothy sequined Donna Karan dress.
She looks like she's been nominated for an Oscar. Beautiful and glamorous,
but nothing to remember in a few weeks time.

I bet you barely recognize country crooner Taylor Swift because she looks so
fashion-forward and incredible in this J Mendel dress. Wow!

Leighton Meester looking corseted and bondage-y in black. Always the risk-taker,
not always the success. Love the high pony, wish she wore something else.

What is it about True Grit's Hailee Steinfeld? She always nails it with her fun,
age-appropriate dresses. What a star, and the youngest of the bunch too!

You may not be in your tender teens anymore, but feel free to leave me your older, wiser thoughts on the junior set. And if you missed the last post, take a peak at some of the Met Gala's more unique looks here.
