Alexander McQueen Fall Fashion 2011 The beloved designer and industry giant may be gone, but Alexander McQueen's name has been on everyone's lips the past few days. If rumors are to be believed, the house of McQueen is Kate Middleton's choice couturier to design her wedding dress for the highly anticipated nuptials on April 29. Of course both the royal palace and fashion house are required to maintain secrecy, but after current head designer Sarah Burton's sublime collection for McQueen this week, everyone is willing it to be. Royalty was certainly on Burton's mind this season. Kate Middleton notwithstanding, she also featured the archetypal ice queen and warrior princess in her collection, complete with snow white furs and black leather lacings. Burton capped off the show with an ode to the Virgin Queen herself--Elizabethan collars, ruffed hems, and farthingales abounded, dramatic and yet subtle enough so as not to look costumey. Who knew 16th century could be so modern? ...and perhaps fit for Princess Catherine indeed.
