Peter Som Fall 2011
I had a short stint at Peter Som when I first moved to New York, but even before that the San Francisco native was probably one of my favorite designers. His clothes are deceptively simple and offer up an easy blend of oxymoronic attributes: classic + innovative; androgynous + feminine. Som's clothes have a 60's/70's feel to them, an almost Prada-esque vibe apparent in this latest collection-- the messy bouffant hair, the nipped-in waists and ladylike silhouettes, the strategic use of fur (dare I call it fur-blocking?).
I'll never get tired of the weird, and most of my favorite looks below involve the fur-blocked. Hands down best though was the floral maxi! The same 70s trend we've been seeing for fall-- a little boho, more minimalist, but refined in a 1930s Cafe Society Jean Harlow-might-wear-this kind of way. Enjoy! xo
